On Tyrion and whores

whoistorule:

I see a lot of Tyrion apologism in fandom at large, and it’s all kinds of gross.  Tyrion is a rapist, a misogynist, and a murderer.  There’s no problem with loving him, so long as you acknowledge these facts, but most Tyrion love posts instead praise him for his wit, or call him the only person capable of ruling the 7 kingdoms (which, lol).  Unlike Cersei fans, who are constantly asked to qualify their love of her with “but she’s a horrible person” (which she IS I don’t want to erase that I love her BECAUSE of it not in spite of it), Tyrion fans are made to do no such thing.

So let’s talk about Tyrion.  If you want to look at his patterns of misogyny and violence, there are two watershed moments in his life: the “betrayal” of Tysha and her subsequent rape, and his murder of Shae.  First, Tysha.  Obviously, everything that happens to her is immeasurably horrible, especially considering she was an innocent 13 year old in love with Tyrion, but lets look at her through his eyes first, as a whore.

a song of ice and fire meme: one king

↳ Tommen Baratheon

“I’m the king. Margaery says that everyone has to do what the king says. I want my white courser saddled on the morrow so Ser Loras can teach me how to joust. I want a kitten too, and I don’t want to eat beets.” He crossed his arms.
