Ruby is her sister. But then, she supposes, she is not.
She is a wolf among lions. A Lannister filled with the blood of a Stark.
Her wolf sits before her, as proud and as lovely as ever.
Her Kingsguard amour is no longer shining gold, but painted red and the tang of iron clings to the air around them like a smog.
“What have you done my dear?”
She takes her sister’s hands in her own, inspects the long slender fingers so different to her own. The man’s blood has stained her skin and is only now beginning to darken and crack. Still, she is the most beautiful woman in the Seven Kingdoms.
“I did what I had to my queen, and I will do the same a hundred times more.”
Her beautiful red wolf.
Val is a lot like that too, probably worse. she’s hot! but doesn’t make an effort to be pretty and doesn’t use her beauty/sexuality to get what she wants, unlike that manipulative whore Cersei/Arianne! she’s badass! but not ambitious, unlike that entitled bitch Dany! she’s insightful! but doesn’t challenge or get in the way of our hero, unlike that old hag Catelyn! she’s politically valuable! but doesn’t care about respecting authority (“Ser Kneeler” etc.), unlike that weak traitor Sansa!"
#super notable as well that neither lyanna nor val nor even dacey mormont are pov characters you see much of #and so they fulfill the sexist ideal that women are seen but not heard #are beautiful without caring #are badass without being ugly #and never challenge traditional fantasy gender norms #which is not to say that any of them are bad characters #but if your favorite female characters are those who perspectives you never get #and the ones you hate the most are the characters whose inner lives you’re exposed to #well #come on (via waverlyrowan)
Yes. While I certainly don’t (can’t!) hate Lyanna or Val, they don’t mean much to me either. They’re beautiful and Strong in all the *perfect* ways, it leaves me cold.
One thing I do love about Lyanna (even if we don’t know her really at all on the page) is how Robert totally romanticizes her and is like, “things would’ve been perfect if your sister lived” to Ned. And then we see in Ned’s POV that she was actually not feeling Robert at all. So I think if we were exposed to her POV it would be really complicated and interesting. But people seem to forget that in favor of her being pretty and riding horses and probably being the Knight of the Laughing Tree, which makes them pretty much Robert.
Yeah, sorry asoiaf fandom, but Lyanna’s just not that into you.
thegirl20 replied to your post I also want some sort of Game of Thronesy AU Ruby x Regina fic.She doesn’t does she. I’m thinking The Kingsguard maybe - resenting the King and pledging her life to protect her Queen….It’s funny, because Ruby should obviously be a Stark, but I don’t think she fits there…Ser Ruby, known across the Seven Kingdoms as The Red Wolf.…Or something like that.
what is my life?
Both Regina and Ruby would look ah-maz-ing in Lannister red.
Also want Regina’s lip scar to have been from when she and Ruby snuck down to see the lions under Casterly Rock.
